The 2nd IVR Japan International Conference

Despite the enduring hard time humanity has had due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IVR (Internationale Vereinigung für Rechts- und Sozialphilosophie or International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy) Japan has made efforts to provide researchers and students with the opportunity of presenting their studies and joining academic discussion. We are pleased to announce that the 2nd IVR Japan International Conference on “East Meets West: Justice, Law, and Politics” will be held in Tokyo or one of its neighboring cities on 16th to 18th September 2022. The conference consists of plenary lectures and general sessions, some of which might be online sessions. Confirmed lecturers are Prof. Daniel A. Bell at Shandong University and Tsinghua University as well as Prof. Hirohide Takikawa at the University of Tokyo. Prof. Bell is to deliver the 13th Kobe Lecture, which will be open to the public. The conference’s official language is English.

We invite researchers and graduate students to submit paper abstracts for general sessions. Papers on any topics in areas of legal philosophy, political philosophy, ethics, and applied ethics in a broad sense are welcome, but papers on topics related to the conference’s theme are particularly considered. Panel proposals on any topics in areas mentioned above are also welcome.

We have a plan to publish selected papers on the conference’s theme in a special issue of some international journal published by a Western publisher.
